You were better than any Mother to me dear Janet and you know how much I love you ! You taught me so much in life and how to always succeed no matter how tough the situation is. To all the fun times we had together I cherish and will always know how blessed I am to have known you and all your wonderful family!!!
Janet Elaine Heinold, 80, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly Danville, died Sunday, February 25, 2018 at home with her family by her side. Born July 7, 1937 in Burlington, Iowa, she was the daughter of Paul and Gladys Vandermark Obermann. On March 3, 1957, she married Thomas Heinold in Danville. They had three sons; Levi, Bret and Clint Heinold. They later divorced. She and Britton Kelly were longtime companions; he passed away June 25, 2013.
As a girl, she worked in her parents variety store in Danville and graduated from Danville High School. She and Tom worked a farm near Geode for a number of years raising turkeys, pheasant, horses and breeding dogs. She later worked for CECO and Goodyear in Mt. Pleasant. She was a member of Shinar Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Pleasant Grove.
Janet enjoyed being outdoors and visiting with family and friends. She had many hobbies throughout her life but her greatest passion was her horses. She and Britt were longtime members of the "Lockridge Rough Riders". They had many good times riding, camping and going to rodeos. She was a strong advocate of animal rescue.
She is survived by her sons; Bret (Laura Sandy) of Burlington and Clint (Brenda) of New London; grandchildren, Brandi (Shane) Christe, Kelly Heinold, Alsace Heinold; great-grandchildren, Austin and Katie Christe; mother-in-law, Alsace Heinold of Danville; cousin, Sherry Frymeyer and daughter Tamra; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; companion, Britton Kelly; grandson, Hayden; and her son Levi, who passed away within hours of her own departure.
The funeral services for Janet and her son, Levi, will be held at 2 PM Saturday, March 3, at Elliott Chapel, New London with Pastors Shane McCampbell and Dan Buck officiating. Visitation will begin at 9 AM with the family present to greet friends beginning at noon. Interment for Janet will be held in Pleasant Grove Cemetery following the service. A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.
My cousin Janet (aka "Turkey") will be missed. My fondest memory of Janet was the time she gave me a blue and white panda bear stuffed animal. I was 5 years old. She was at the fair with friends when she came home and threw the bear at me and said "here you go Chicken"! I did not know what to say so I said "thanks Turkey!" From then on she was Turkey and I was Chicken. I will miss you so much.
Jan was a beautiful, intelligent, generous, and loving woman who will always be remembered by the many whose lives she touched. She had the best sense of humor and a very practical view of the world. Her warmth and kind spirit guided my family and me through a very difficult time and she'll never be forgotten. My heart breaks for all of you with this sad loss and your tragic loss of Levi, as well.
There has never been a more loving and generous woman. She was always available and willing to lend a hand whenever I needed help with something. I am sure she will be missed by many.
Sorry for your loss,, our prayers are with you.
