Robbie Sue Van Syoc

Robbie Sue Wear Van Syoc, 67, of New London, died Monday, April 1, 2019 at her home from complications following a fourteen year battle with multiple sclerosis. She was born August 14, 1951 in Keokuk to Harold Lynn "Butch" and Lucille Agnes Wozny Wear. On July 14, 1973 she married Larry Van Syoc in Keokuk.
Robbie was a 1969 graduate of Keokuk High School; 1973 graduate of Iowa State University; and was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church serving for many years on the Altar and Rosary committee.
Mrs. Van Syoc was a homemaker, a meticulous bookkeeper for Van Syoc Farms, and a 4-H leader for the NL Lassies and Lads. She was active in many New London School booster clubs and enjoyed golf, knitting, reading, playing cards, family vacations and trips to Lake of the Ozarks. Her favorite thing was giving gator rides to her granddaughters. True to her kind heart and soul, she was an organ donor.
Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Stephanie (Craig) Nelson, New London; one son, Todd Van Syoc, Moline, Illinois; four granddaughters, Madelynn, Maison, Dakota, and Alexandra; three sisters, Joy (Wayne) Peterson, Hammond, LA, Judy (Lonnie) Swift, Round Rock, TX, Janice Wear-Winfield, Des Moines; one brother, Rick (Maryanne) Wear, Monte Sereno, California; nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one son, Christopher.
The funeral service for Mrs. Van Syoc will be 11:00 AM, Friday, April 5 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant with Father Paul Connolly officiating. Immediately following the service, the family will receive friends at a luncheon at the church with burial following at Burge Cemetery, rural New London. Visitation will begin at noon Thursday at Elliott Chapel with the family present to greet friends from 4 - 7 PM. Memorials have been established for New London Fire and Rescue and National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
