Carla was so caring to my mother. Mom had a stroke and was unable to speak and was very confused. Carla would hold her hand ,those times when she was anxious ,and talk to her and soothe her. Thank you, Carla. Rest In Peace. Sheila Kroll
Carla Jean Edgington, 88, of New London, died Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at New London Specialty Care. She was born September 30, 1929 in Huron, the daughter of Clarence Isaac and Merle Elizabeth Luckenbill Kinsinger. December 6, 1946, she married Edsel Burl Edgington in Burlington. He died May 17, 1998.
She attended Huron school and was of the Protestant faith. Mrs. Edgington was a homemaker and a lifelong area resident. She enjoyed playing rummikub and dominoes and later loved playing bingo at the care center.
Survivors include two daughters; Roma Jean Edgington and Pam Wick, both of New London; three sons; Larry E. Edgington, Mt. Pleasant, Wendell B. Edgington, Ft. Madison, and Ferlin P. Edgington, New London; grandchildren; Jeremy, Christopher F., Josh, Shane, Christopher E., Brandon, Jacob, Jon, Jed, Susan, Jenna, Jennifer and Jeanette; many great-grandchildren; two sisters; Donna Walters and Linda Lord, both of Mediapolis; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by son, Gary; grandson, Roman Edgington; sister, Ethel Breuer, and son-in-law, Tony Wick.
Visitation for Mrs. Carla Edgington will be Friday at Elliott Chapel beginning at noon with the family present to receive friends from 5 - 7 PM. A graveside service will be Saturday at 10:00 AM at Jaggar Cemetery, rural Danville with Rev. David Mixon officiating. A memorial has been established for New London Specialty Care Activity Fund.
Carla was such a sweet lady....so glad I was lucky enough to get to know here years ago. Thoughts and prayers to her family. RIP...Carla....gone but never forgotten by all those that were fortunate enough to know and love you.
She was a great sister-in-law and always made you feel welcome.
